ns2 (Network Simulator 2) can be installed in both Windows and Linux environments.
In linux, the installation is straight forward and the install procedure depends upon the flavor of the Linux and the version of NS2 being installed.
For Windows, there are two options
1. Install via Cygwin (Linux emulator for windows)
2. Install within virtual machine softwares (like VMWare, Virtual PC, Virtual box etc)
